Using the Library

Open access!

The library is primarily for reference – we have material which is scarce and often only available in specialist collections such as the National Railway Museum in York. But see below.

If you have a particular interest, or want to consult a particular book or magazine, contact us  to arrange an appointment.  Our email address is info@stationlibrary.org.uk or ring – 07795 008691.

These two retired drivers from Saltley (Birmingham) loco shed were welcome visitors last year

We also have a growing lending library which at present is open one day a month (normally the second Saturday of each month) from 11.00 to 16.00. We ask borrowers (just need contact details) to return books a month later, or earlier using our postbox.

We welcome donated books and other printed material that is relevant to transport. Duplicate books will go into the ‘lending’ section. If we get more than two we will offer the book for sale to help raise money for the library running costs and development.

Trains passing at Kents Bank. We have a regular service to Lancaster, Preston and Manchester Airport, so we’re easy to reach.
