Mutual Improvement Class (MIC)

We have monthly talks on a wide range of transport-related matters. We call them our ‘Mutual Improvement Class (MIC)’ – a very old and venerable railway tradition of self-improvement.

Our second talk for 2026 will be on Wednesday February 18th. Emily Oldfield of South-East Lancashire Community Rail Partnership will speak on ‘Fingers in Many Pies’ – the story of the North’s food heritage and links with railways.

The talk will begin at 14.00. There’s no admission chanrge but it’s important to let us know you’re coming as space is limited. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available after the talk, plus some samples!

The following talk is on Wednesday march 11th, with Mark Barkers speaking on ‘Cheshire’s Best Kept Stations.’
