Mutual Improvement Class (MIC)

We have monthly talks on a wide range of transport-related matters. We call them our ‘Mutual Improvement Class (MIC)’ – a very old and venerable railway tradition of self-improvement.

Food and trains…good combination One of our open days. welcoming friends from Hindley and Bolton. Cheers!

The talks start at 14.00. There’s no admission charge but it’s important to let us know you’re coming as space is limited. Tea, coffee and biscuits available after the talk.

The last talk was on Wednesday June 10th with Jo Kaye talking about the work of the Railway Benefit Fund. It was a fascinating account, touching on the history of the charity and the incredibly important work it does today. For more information go to: www.railwaybenefitfund.org.uk

We’re having a break from talks over the summer and instead having some trips. We had a brilliant outing to Garsdale in early July to join the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line celebrating 50 years since the station (and other stations along the S&C) were re-opened. More being planned….
